Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) FAQ

The NTNP is the Northwest Territories’ Provincial Nominee Program. Through this program, prospective immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by the province may receive a Northwest Territories Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will allow that foreign national to apply for Canadian permanent residence with processing times that are faster than other Canadian immigration classes.

The NTNP accepts applications under two immigration programs:

  • NTNP Employer Driven Program, and
  • NTNP Business Stream.

This program allows Northwest Territories (NWT) employers to hire foreign skilled workers with the necessary skills and experience to fill positions in the territory for which there are no qualified Canadians or Permanent Residents available.

This program is further divided into three streams:

  • Critical Impact Worker Stream,
  • Skilled Worker Stream, and
  • Northwest Territories’ Express Entry Stream

This program of the NTNP targets individuals with business expertise and considerable investment capital looking to settle in the Northwest Territories and capable of enhancing their economic environment. Successful candidates under this program are those with the ability to establish, purchase, or invest in an existing business in the territory. Applicants are selected primarily on the basis of their ability to create jobs for Canadians and other foreign nationals living in the region.
